Bonjour docteur,
Depuis un bout de temps, il y a eu un décès dans la famille. Depuis, mon frère a beaucoup changé : il n’arrive pas à dépasser sa tristesse. Je me fais du souci pour lui, mais, je ne sais pas comment l’aider. A.M

La tristesse et les déceptions font partie de la vie. Et il est normal de se sentir déprimé après un événement grave tel qu’un deuil. Mais parfois, un véritable mal s’installe. Il s’agit peut-être d’une dépression (aussi appelée dépression nerveuse).
C’est pourquoi, il faudrait faire attention à certains signes : le premier signe de la dépression est bien sûr une profonde tristesse. Elle peut s’accompagner de pleurs inexpliqués et d’un sentiment que tout va mal.
Bien sûr, il nous arrive régulièrement d’être triste : la vie n’est pas uniquement constituée de joie. Mais chez le dépressif, la tristesse est quasi permanente (dès le réveil).
Cette perte d’intérêt touche tous les domaines de la vie. Ainsi, les petits plaisirs du quotidien comme écouter de la musique, voir ses amis, lire… disparaissent. Il faudrait faire bien attention car ce symptôme peut conduire certains à avoir des idées suicidaires.
Autre signe : la fatigue intense, qui est présente même sans avoir fait d’efforts particuliers.
La personne qui souffre de dépression connaît aussi une fatigue intellectuelle qui se traduit par : un manque de concentration, une baisse de l’attention, des difficultés de mémorisation , etc.
En cas de dépression, le sommeil est perturbé. Il est souvent de mauvaise qualité, c’est pourquoi le malade a un besoin excessif de sommeil.
Signe aussi de dépression : le fait de se dévaloriser. La personne pense qu’elle n’est bonne à rien . Ce sentiment peut s’ajouter à une impression d’abandon avec le sentiment de ne pas être aimé des autres.
La dépression s’accompagne souvent de signes physiques. On notera principalement la perte d’appétit. La perte de poids est souvent un signe important pour établir le diagnostic de la dépression.
La dépression est accompagnée de douleurs comme des : maux de tête, souffrances dans les articulations, problèmes digestifs…
Vous devez absolument noter : la dépression et la tristesse qui en découle ne peuvent pas être résolues par la consolation et l’affection des proches. La dépression est tellement forte, que seul un traitement adapté (psychothérapie) permet à la personne de s’en sortir.
Donc, mon conseille est de prendre au plus tôt contact avec un spécialiste et ne pas se sentir honteux de le faire car le moral comme le physique peuvent être touchés par une quelconque maladie.
