Matloubin : la nouvelle œuvre de Nibal Arakji.
Quand j’ai assisté à Ossit Sawani en 2012, le premier film de Nibal Arakji, j’ai été profondément bouleversée par le destin tragique des différents protagonistes.
Aujourd’hui, en découvrant Matloubin, sorti en salles début janvier, j’ai ressenti le même choc intérieur. Pourtant, ce nouveau film est construit dans un cadre comique.
Un sujet touchant sous couvert d’humour.
Apparemment, Matloubin raconte une histoire simple : celle de quatre amis du 3e âge et leur périple dans les rues du Liban. Un sujet presque banal. Mais en profondeur, le film aborde un thème bien plus émouvant : la vieillesse oubliée, seule, silencieuse, enfermée dans des maisons de repos. Des lieux où la solitude règne, sous la poigne dure et avide des directeurs. Des dirigeants préoccupés par l’argent, négligeant le bien-être de ceux qu’ils hébergent.
Aida Sabra incarne l’un de ces directeurs. Une performance magistrale. Heureusement, dans ce tableau sombre, surgissent des rayons de lumière : Karim (Pierre Rabbat) et Zeina (Josyane Boulos), deux infirmiers humains et bienveillants. Ils adoucissent le quotidien de ces oubliés. Ils rendent leur vie un peu plus tolérable. Un peu plus vivable.
Quatre personnages inoubliables.
Le cœur du film, ce sont les quatre protagonistes, tous inoubliables. Daad, incarnée par Daad Rizk, bavarde, frénétique, attendrissante.Jacko, jouée par Siham Haddad, réservée, mais dont le regard doux en dit long. Walid (Georges Abou Khalil), père et grand-père abandonné, portant la solitude comme une croix. Et Adib (Georges Diab), Don Juan malicieux, semeur de rires et de joie.
Autour d’eux, d’autres anciens se croisent au détour d’un anniversaire ou d’une partie de bingo. Mais entre Daad, Jacko, Walid et Adib, un lien plus fort se tisse : une amitié vraie.
Matloubin : Le départ vers une mission folle.
Leur vie s’écoule, tranquille, jusqu’à ce que Jacko reçoive une lettre :
la tombe de son mari va être détruite. Un centre commercial est prévu à sa place.
C’est l’élément déclencheur. Alors, les quatre amis décident de fuir la maison de repos.
Objectif : empêcher ce projet inacceptable. Commence alors une aventure pleine d’imprévus. Ils sillonnent le Liban, affrontent des situations drôles, parfois absurdes.
Une épopée virale et médiatisée.
Ce périple prend vite de l’ampleur. Leur histoire devient virale. Les vidéos partagées en temps réel, les “likes” et les partages en ligne engendrent une vague de soutien.
Leur cause devient une affaire publique. Une manifestation populaire s’organise.
Le casting secondaire n’est pas en reste :
Dory Samrabi, Wissam Saliba, Badih Abou Chacra, Tony Baroud, Diana Fakhoury, Ali Meimné, Lina Abiad et en invitée d’honneur, Myriam Klink.
Matloubin : Un regard sincère sur la vieillesse.
À travers Matloubin, Nibal Arakji nous montre que le regard des plus âgés porte une sagesse rare. Elle nous rappelle que l’humain est ce qui compte le plus.
Qu’il faut rester soudés, fidèles à nos amis, à nos familles. Ce film affirme haut et fort la nécessité d’aimer et d’être aimés. Il nous dit qu’il faut travailler dur pour ce en quoi l’on croit. Et rester en phase avec ses valeurs.
Une impression singulière.
Humainement, le film est bouleversant. Il traite d’un sujet rare au cinéma. Et pourtant, en sortant, une pensée étrange me traverse :
J’ai eu l’impression d’avoir assisté à un film américain… en langue arabe. Bien sûr que le sujet est humainement intéressant et inédit au cinéma même si en en sortant, j’ai eu l’impression d’avoir assisté à un film américain en langue arabe.
