Après avoir ému les cœurs et les esprits lors du dernier Festival de Cannes avec son film Capernaum, nominée aux Oscars et aux Golden Globes et qui a remporté le prix du jury à Cannes, la réalisatrice libanaise Nadine Labaki succédera à l’acteur Benicio Del Toro à la présidence de Un Certain Regard Jury pour la 72ème édition du Festival.
Les trois longs métrages de Nadine Labaki lui ont valu une renommée internationale, du tapis rouge du Festival de Cannes à la cérémonie des Oscars, il y a quelques mois. La carrière de la réalisatrice, actrice et scénariste a été lancée pour la première fois sur la Croisette, et c’est ici que tous ses films ont été dévoilés.
“Je me souviens de l’époque où je venais à Cannes en tant qu’étudiante en cinéma, j’étais tellement excitée de participer au festival le plus prestigieux du monde”, a-t-elle déclaré. “À l’époque, cela me semblait si hors de portée. Je me souviens de m’être levé tôt le matin et d’avoir fait la queue pour obtenir un billet…Aujourd’hui, je suis le président du jury Un Certain Regard, ce qui prouve que parfois la vie peut être encore meilleure que les rêves. J’ai hâte de voir les films de la sélection, de débattre et de discuter, d’être ébranlé, de trouver de l’inspiration dans le travail d’autres artistes.
