Après avoir obtenu son diplôme de Creative Space Beirut en décembre 2016, Roni Helou fut sélectionné pour un poste à Starch Foundation dirigé par Rabih Kayrouz et Tala Hajjar, à travers lesquels ses collections furent présentées au Fashion Forward à Dubaï pour deux saisons.
En 2017, Roni reçut le prix Boghossian Foundation Fashion, qui offrait une résidence à la Villa Empain à Bruxelles. Il fut également choisi comme unique candidat présentant le Moyen-Orient pour participer à la vitrine internationale de la mode 2019 à Londres.
Cette même année, il participa à un programme de mentorat qui lui permit d’affiner la vision de sa marque qui porte son nom, Roni Helou, et qui fut présentée dans les principaux médias régionaux tels Vogue Arabia, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Elle India et The National UAE.
Pour sa collection automne hiver 2019, il fut inspiré par la crise des ordures qui noya littéralement le pays dans ses propres déchets et dont le problème créa un sentiment de paralysie au cœur de la société libanaise.
Pour encourager le recyclage et éviter le gaspillage, cette collection fut conçue avec des tissus provenant de stocks morts ; de beaux tissus vintages qui portent chacun une histoire qui lui est propre –
maillot,laine, popeline, nylon, denim, dentelle, mousseline et gabardine.
Les formes sont plutôt sportswear, embellies par des cordons et des fermetures-éclair où collage et formes dynamiques jouent un rôle principal.
