Le Festival international du film de la mer Rouge ouvrira ses portes à Jeddah, en Arabie saoudite, le 12 mars 2020, avec la première mondiale du long métrage saoudien « Shams al-Maaref » (Le Livre du Soleil), réalisé par les Godus Brothers.
Le film sera également en lice dans la section EN COMPÉTITION du Festival.
Un film qui capte l’esprit d’une génération.
Réalisé par Faris Godus, produit et interprété par son frère Suhaib, Shams al-Maaref explore l’univers d’une génération bouleversée par l’arrivée d’Internet.
Situé en 2010, le film suit Husam (Baraa Alem), un lycéen passionné par la production vidéo. Cette obsession le détourne des activités habituelles du secondaire et de sa vie d’adolescent.
Autour de lui gravitent son meilleur ami Maan (Ismail Alhasan), leur rival Ibrahim (Ahmed Saddam) et leur enseignant Orabi (Sohayb Godus).
Tous partagent une fascination pour le monde en ligne et pour la liberté que promet la création de contenu vidéo.
Le Livre du Soleil, une aventure de création libre et sans budget.
Le groupe se lance dans la production d’un film d’horreur sans aucun budget.
Ce projet devient une aventure sauvage d’expression personnelle et de créativité.
Mais pour leurs familles, cette passion représente un risque : celui de compromettre leur avenir.
Le parcours des frères Godus avec Le Livre du Soleil.
Les Godus Brothers sont devenus célèbres grâce à leur travail sur des projets comme Telfaz 11, leur court métrage acclamé « Depressing Scene » (2016), ainsi que la série télévisée saoudienne du Ramadan « Another Planet ». Le soutien de la Fondation du Festival de la mer Rouge. La Fondation du Festival du Film de la Mer Rouge a soutenu la production de Shams al-Maaref.
Elle a accordé une subvention de 500 000 $ via le Tamheed Fund, une aide précieuse destinée aux cinéastes saoudiens émergents.
Ce film fait partie d’un large ensemble de projets soutenus par les fonds et subventions de la Fondation.

Le premier Festival international du film de la mer Rouge se tient du 12 au 21 mars dans la vieille ville de Jeddah, sous le thème « Changer le scénario ».
C’est une plateforme dédiée à l’expression et à la découverte à travers le cinéma.
Le Festival et ses initiatives visent à : soutenir et faire croître l’industrie cinématographique saoudienne émergente, inspirer de nouveaux publics dans tout le pays et contribuer à enrichir l’expérience d’une société saoudienne en pleine mutation, en encourageant les échanges culturels ouverts.
