Parfois, une simple coïncidence nous fait découvrir un livre, une œuvre d’art, un sourire ou un lieu magique. Aujourd’hui, notre petit coin de rêve s’appelle l’ancienne ville de Furong. Elle doit son nom à l’hibiscus (furong en chinois), qui fleurit abondamment durant l’été. Son histoire remonte à plus de 2 000 ans. On la surnomme « l’ancienne ville accrochée à la cascade ».
Furong, une ville entre nature et tradition.
Furong est une station touristique unique. Elle combine paysages naturels et traditions ethniques anciennes. Entourée de montagnes verdoyantes et d’eau claire, la ville charme immédiatement. Ses ruelles sinueuses, ses maisons sur pilotis, ses murs en pierre et ses toits en bois captivent les visiteurs. Les sculptures complexes et les rues pavées de dalles révèlent la simplicité du peuple Tujia local.
La cascade de Furong.
C’est l’un des trésors naturels de la ville. Elle traverse Furong, qui est entourée d’eau sur trois côtés. Avec ses 60 mètres de hauteur et 40 mètres de largeur, c’est la plus grande cascade de la région occidentale du Hunan. Son élan est spectaculaire, dévalant la falaise avec force.
La Résidence de Tusi.
Cette résidence perchée sur une falaise est construite sur pilotis. Tusi, un chef tribal, y avait établi sa station d’été. Elle se trouve juste à côté de la cascade, créant un paysage exceptionnel.
Le Pilier de bronze de Xizhou.
Ce pilier historique est visible au musée des paysages folkloriques de Xiangxi.
Il date de l’an 940. C’est une preuve des conflits entre l’État de Chu et la préfecture de Xizhou. Le pilier, creux, en bronze, mesure 2,98 mètres. Il est sacré pour le peuple Tujia. Ses inscriptions et sa forme aident à comprendre la culture du Hunan occidental.
La rue Wuli Flagstone.
Cette rue ancienne est bordée de boutiques et de maisons Tujia sur pilotis.
Elle mène à un embarcadère sur la rivière Youshui. Depuis la jetée, on aperçoit la cascade et le village d’eau volante.
Saveurs locales.
La gastronomie de Furong est renommée. Le Tofu au riz et les bonbons au gingembre en sont les spécialités. Ils reflètent l’authenticité culinaire locale.
La magie des nuits à Furong.
La ville offre un spectacle nocturne unique. Sa cascade et ses bâtiments s’illuminent de lumières colorées. Le paysage devient féérique.
Quand visiter Furong ?
Il est conseillé de visiter entre avril et octobre. La saison des pluies commence en juin.
Pendant cette période, la cascade devient encore plus belle. En hiver, il fait froid et la plupart des hôtels n’ont pas de chauffage.
