L’enfance deKhaled Al-Khani marquée par la tragédie
Khaled Al-Khani est un artiste syrien né à Hama. Enfant, il perd son père, tué lors du massacre de Hama en février 1982. Cette tragédie marque profondément sa vie. Sa mère remarque son talent pour le dessin et l’encourage dans cette voie.
Apprentissages et premières expositions.
Adolescent, Khaled visite l’atelier de Sohail Alahdab. Il y apprend la peinture et le modelage de l’argile et s’installe à Damas pour étudier aux Beaux-Arts. Il vend ses tableaux pour payer ses frais. En 1998, il obtient son diplôme, puis une maîtrise en 2000.
Ses premières expositions ont lieu à la galerie Naseer Shura à Damas. Khaled expose en 1999, 2000 et 2001. Il se fait connaître au Koweït, à la Galerie Boushahri et au Musée Baytlothan. Il expose ensuite à Dubaï, en Jordanie et au Liban.
Exil et engagement politique pour Khaled Al-Khani.
En 2011, après le début du soulèvement populaire, il fuit la Syrie. Recherché pour son rôle dans les manifestations et ses articles sur le massacre de Hama, il part à Paris. Il y reprend la peinture après un an d’attente.
Un style marqué par l’expressionnisme.
L’art de Khaled Al-Khani rappelle l’expressionnisme allemand d’avant 1914. Le conflit syrien influence ses toiles. Il peint Um Ibrahim, femme résistante, comme une héroïne de son enfance. Il dit : « Ma peinture est liée à mes souvenirs d’enfance, au massacre de Hama. »
Une évolution artistique marquante.
Ses débuts sont dominés par des tons marron et des effets de contre-jour. Vers 2010, ses couleurs deviennent plus vives. Il peint des scènes comme des moments fixes d’un roman visuel. Ses tableaux montrent des figures déformées et des visages défigurés.

Khaled Al-Khani ne raconte pas, il peint le souffle de la vie. Son expressionnisme conjure les souvenirs douloureux. Son art montre que même blessée, la vie peut éblouir l’espace. Il peint l’espoir, même au cœur du chaos.
