Le”Sans-abri ; une toile qui m’a interpellée.
Au cours de ma visite à l’atelier de monsieur Claude Saksouk, une toile a attiré mon attention. Elle était intitulée Le Sans-abri. C’est surtout le regard du mendiant que j’ai trouvé remarquable. En fait, les yeux, et surtout le regard du personnage, ressemblaient beaucoup à ceux du peintre. Alors, j’ai conclu que cela pouvait être un autoportrait.
Il se présente de face, en gros plan, avec un regard qui plonge directement dans celui du spectateur. Ses yeux sont écarquillés. Son regard sombre reflète un infini personnel et mouvant.
Le”Sans-abri ; une peinture de force et de contraste.
Dans ce tableau, Saksouk utilise des coups de pinceau puissants. Il le fait pour donner un sens géométrique au portrait. Ainsi, il renforce la physionomie du mendiant avec force et puissance. La pâleur du front, peinte en jaune, contraste avec les couleurs plus foncées du reste du visage. La barbe et les longues moustaches ajoutent de la profondeur. Des touches de rouge sur le nez et la paupière de l’œil intensifient l’expression. Quelques touches de blanc ajoutent des éclats. Le fond jaune, violet et glauque met en relief le visage du personnage. Il souligne encore une fois le regard, élément central de la toile.
Une lumière expressive.
La source lumineuse vient en plongée, depuis la gauche. Elle accentue les contrastes.
Elle illumine une partie du visage avec intensité.
Une inspiration préromantique.
Ce portrait peut s’inscrire dans une tendance préromantique. Cela est dû à son approche romantique, centrée sur l’expression de l’émotion. Le regard du personnage en est le miroir direct.
Un titre évocateur ou ambigu ?
J’ignore si le titre de cette toile, « Sans-abri », qualifie l’accablement du personnage,
et sa profonde déception de la vie — et donc de l’artiste. Ou bien, s’il s’agit simplement d’une tendance de l’artiste à peindre les miséreux. Ces personnes en marge de la société. Mais en les exaltant, Claude Saksouk s’enfonce lui-même dans leur univers.
Un monde de misère, d’abattement et de malheur.
