Alphonse Mucha : un souffle de grâce dans l’Art nouveau.
L’Art nouveau voit le jour à la fin du XIXe siècle. Il prend racine en Belgique et en France, puis se répand en Europe.
Ce style artistique embrasse l’architecture, la peinture, le mobilier, le vitrail, l’illustration. Son langage ? Des lignes souples et formes inspirées de la nature. Des courbes, fleurs et femmes. C’est dans ce monde en métamorphose qu’émerge Alphonse Mucha. L’un de ses plus grands noms.
Alphonse Mucha, un artiste aux mille visages.
Né en 1860 en Moravie, aujourd’hui en République tchèque, Mucha est un enfant de l’Empire austro-hongrois. Dès l’enfance, il dessine. Son trait s’affine, son imagination grandit. Affichiste, illustrateur, graphiste, décorateur, architecte d’intérieur… Il incarne l’artiste total.
Mais derrière ce foisonnement de talents, se cache une philosophie. Pour lui, l’art ne suit pas les modes.
« L’art ne peut jamais être nouveau », affirmait-il.
L’art, disait-il, est éternel. Et pourtant, c’est bien l’Art nouveau qui va faire de lui une légende.
Le style Mucha : une poésie visuelle.
Avec Mucha, l’Art nouveau devient art du quotidien. Ses affiches habillent les murs.
Ses femmes aux longs cheveux s’enlacent dans des arabesques végétales.
Son style est reconnaissable entre mille :
Ornements floraux, silhouettes élancées, couleurs douces et lumineuses.
Les critiques parleront du « style Mucha ». Un style devenu icône. Un univers onirique, suspendu entre rêve et beauté.
Alphonse Mucha à l’honneur au Musée du Luxembourg.
Du 12 septembre 2018 au 27 janvier 2019, une exposition majeure rend hommage à Alphonse Mucha au Musée du Luxembourg. On y redécouvre son œuvre foisonnante.
Mais aussi sa pensée. Son engagement politique. Son attachement à sa terre natale.
On le croyait décorateur. Il était aussi messager. Un homme qui croyait que l’art devait élever, embellir et unir.
Aujourd’hui encore, son nom murmure aux oreilles du temps. Alphonse Mucha reste une passerelle entre la nature et l’âme humaine.
